Local products valorized by Renaissance statue

Immagine 9AR/ Peuters Newsbits: The association of Tripe Vendors and Butchers (CTM) has purchased the rights for the use of Benvenuto Cellini’s bronze Perseus, which has stood threateningly under the Loggia dei Lanzi since the mid 16th century. These rights were won through a public contest in which the Florentine association’s main competitor was their arch rival, the international McRonald. Although the CTM’s minor adaptation of the bronze, with the addition of an impaled steak and some tripe hanging from Medusa’s head, might be considered offensive by some, CTM’s president, Gino Gennino, reminds us that McRonald’s proposal to turn Perseus into a happy clown would have been even more scary.
